Why was “Sindoor” selected as the operation’s codename?
The nomenclature was intentional and profoundly emotive. The April 22nd terrorist attack in Pahalgam, resulting in the deaths of 26 individuals, primarily male tourists, caused widespread devastation. The sight of widows, still adorned with sindoor, the mark of marriage, openly grieving their sudden loss resonated deeply nationwide. Therefore, the operation’s designation, “Sindoor,” serves as a tribute to their suffering, lost love, fractured families, and the urgent need for retribution.
• Due to prevailing situation, all educational institutions in the five border districts of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri, and Poonch, have been closed on Wednesday. Schools in Rajasthan and Punjab border districts have also been ordered shut. States across the country are also prepared to conduct mock drills on following the directions of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
Operation Sindoor’s primary targets are Camps with specific roles in supporting terrorist activities that have caused significant harm to India.
