Governor Of California appoints Indian-American Vaibhav Mittal as a Judge in the Orange County Superior Court.


Attorney Vaibhav Mittal an Indian American, becomes the first judge of South Asian descent on the County of Orange, Superior Court of California.

Vaibhav is a 39-year-old resident of Yorba Linda, California. He is a Democratic and was sworn in on 10 September, 2021. He replaced Judge Ronald L Bauer at the country court.


Mittal was sworn in by Assistant Presiding Judge Maria Hernandez after his appointment by the California Governor Gavin Newsom.

Mittal pursued Political Science and electrical engineering from University of California, Berkeley. He also worked in the semi conductor industry before joining New York University School of Law.

As a prosecutor, he earned a lot of awards from the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department Of Treasury. He dedicated, his work to the community. He has been the lead attorney coach of Segerstorm High School’s mock trial team.


He has trained and supervised lawyers under his leadership. He also taught students of University of California and Irvine School of Law, encouraging and mentoring law students to pursue careers in law.


He is also socially active, he prepares meals twice monthly for the homeless at Mary’s kitchen in Orange, California.
Moreover, he also served as SABA-SC’s Public Interest Foundation, which is a non-profit organisation which supports the non-profit organisations serving the South Asian Conmunity.
