Tripura HC issues notice on a plea by Gau Gyan Foundation against illegal cattle smuggling to Bangladesh


According to authorities, a suspected cattle smuggler from Bangladesh was beaten to death in Tripura’s Sepahijala district in the early hours of Saturday. The event occurred at Kamalnagar Gram Panchayat, which is within the jurisdiction of Sonamura police station.

According to the local police, there were three suspected thieves, two of whom escaped and one of them was apprehended by the townspeople.
According to villagers, a bunch of robbers from Bangladesh stormed into the house of a local called Babul Pal in the Kamalnagar region around midnight to steal cows. When Pal was retailing, the gang attacked him and he shouted out for aid.

The corpse was retrieved and sent to the Sonamura police station for an autopsy. Bangladeshi mobile SIM cards and notes were also discovered.


An inquiry has been initiated following the occurrence. The Tripura High Court issues a notice to the Centre, the Tripura Government, the DGP of Tripura, all DMs of Tripura, the Special Secretary of Border Management, and others in response to the Gau Gyan Foundation’s petition against illegal cattle markets in Tripura that facilitate cruelty and cattle smuggling to Bangladesh.
The Court has requested that each respondent file their reply and serve it on the Gau Gyan Foundation in advance so that a rejoinder can be made before the next date.

The matter has been postponed until November 29.
