Justice Bindal’s appointment was notified by the Central Government on Monday. The oath was administered by Anandiben Patel.
Justice Rajesh Bindal took oath as the Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court on Monday at Raj Bhavan in Lucknow. The oath was administered in presence of the Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Anandiben Patel.
The Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India NV Ramana and comprising Justices UU Lalit and AM Khanwilkar had recommended the appointment of Justice Rajesh Bindal as the new Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court.
The Central Government today notified the appointment of Justice Bindal, he was serving as the Acting Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court.
Justice Rajesh Bindal was born on April 16, 1961 in Haryana. He completed his LL.B from Kurukshetra University in 1985.
Justice Bindal was enrolled as an Advocate on September 1985 after completing his LLB. He practiced in Haryana and Punjab High Court and he represented the Chandigarh Administration before Central Administration Tribunal.
He was elevated as a judge of High Court of Punjab and Haryana on March 22, 2006.
He was then transferred to the Jammu and Kashmir High Court and the Central Government, in December 2020, appointed him as an Acting Chief Justice of the High Court.
