Thieves killed a 55-year-old lady in broad daylight in Rajasthan’s Jaipur region, then cut off her feet in an attempt to take the silver anklets she was wearing. Before fleeing, the attackers snatched her jewellery. The heinous event, which was reported on Tuesday, sparked alarm and indignation among residents, who asked that the perpetrators be apprehended and brought to justice as soon as possible.
Geeta Devi, a native of Chavandiya’s Khatehpura hamlet, was identified as the victim by police. She was attacked while working in a field near her house.

The victim’s family has demanded harsh punishment against the perpetrators, as well as Rs 25 lakh in compensation and a government position from the state.

Meanwhile, Jamwa Ramgarh MLA Gopal Meena faced public outrage for arriving late to meet with the victim’s relatives and assess the situation. Many villagers and Brahmin Samaj leaders assembled at the site and kept watch throughout the night.
The BJP stated that, on the one hand, the Ashok Gehlot administration in Rajasthan has been blaming the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh for being unable to prevent crimes against women, but has been unable to put an end to occurrences of crime in Rajasthan.
