Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Lakhimpur Kheri denied by the Uttar Pradesh Government

According to reports, a five-member Congress team led by Rahul Gandhi is expected to visit Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday i.e 6th October 2021 to meet with relatives of victims murdered in a violent event on Sunday. However, following the imposition of Section 144 of the CrPC in Lucknow, the Uttar Pradesh government denied the Congress delegation permission to travel.

“With immediate effect, Section 144 of the CrPC was enforced in Lucknow, the state capital. In light of approaching festivals, various admission examinations, and farmer demonstrations, Section 144 will stay in effect in the capital until November 8 to maintain peace and order and guarantee respect to COVID-19 guidelines.”
