Muzaffarpur excise supervisor Sanjay Rai stated that after speaking with the relatives of the dead, it was discovered that “they were chronic drinkers of toddy” (Tari). According to authorities, at least three people died after swallowing fake booze in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district. On November 7, the trio became ill with diarrhoea after eating tainted wine. “Two died at the hospital, and the third died at home,” Muzaffarpur senior superintendent of police (SSP) Jayant Kant said.
The deceased was identified as Ram Babu Rai (67), Dilip Rai (50), and Gopi Patel (30), all of whom lived in the villages of Kapurpura, Bariyarpur, and Sirisiya, respectively.

According to the SSP, a fourth individual who also drank the booze is receiving treatment.
Kundan Kumar, the station house officer (SHO) of Kanti police station, and the chowkidars of two villages were suspended as a result of the incident, he added. The remains of Ram Babu Rai and Dilip Rai have been sent for post-mortem examination, according to Rai.

The sale and consumption of alcohol were completely banned in Bihar by the Nitish Kumar government five and a half years ago.
